Yorimi

A bilingual AI companion: a portable device and the web app behind it, where the character Yori keeps you company and helps you take the first small step.

Yorimi is a bilingual AI companion: a portable device with a voice, and the web app behind it, where the character Yori keeps you company, notices when you are stuck, and helps you take one small next step. It started in May 2026 as Compagnon Éveil, a hackathon prototype, and became Yorimi from June.

I built the code, hardware–software integration and product design; the device runs on an ESP32. The idea, character design, physical prototype and videos are my teammate Siyu Wang’s.

Compagnon Éveil was a Top 20 finalist at the UCWS Singapore Hackathon 2026, organised by EpicConnector and Canlah AI and supported by Google Cloud, BytePlus, Baidu AI Cloud, Singtel, OpenAI, AWS and Kimi, among others. Yorimi then took first prize in the Global Youth track of the Dishui Lake Global OPC AI Challenge in Lingang, Shanghai, in August 2026. The demo video has passed 10k views in total on Bilibili.

Yorimi also reached the final round at MiraclePlus, the accelerator founded by Dr Lu Qi, and a partner interview at Antler.

Yorimi has been a fun and fruitful practice outside my quantum and finance world. I’m an anime lover, so it has been an exciting project, and one I will always come back to.
